Join us in the campaign to Stop Jailing Kids

Prison is no place for a child. But in NSW, the minimum age of criminal responsibility is just 10 years old. Kids young enough to still have baby teeth are harassed by police, handcuffed, strip-searched, hauled before the courts and locked in prison cells.

When a child is imprisoned they are denied the care, support and education they need. The international standard for the age of criminal responsibility is 14. New South Wales is failing to uplift and support kids towards better futures, and kids in our community are at risk.
Join the Blacktown Greens for a day of action in Doonside, letterboxing flyers for the Stop Jailing Kids campaign, and a a discussion on youth and First Nations justice issues, and help us keep kids safe.

We will meet at Doonside Train Station if the weather is good for Letterboxing, where we will discuss the campaign and the pathway to increasing the age of criminal responsibility, and give you everything you need to take part. Everyone will be buddied up, and the actual letterboxing should only take an hour or less followed by a coffee & chat at Sunny Corner Cafe.

In case of wet-weather, we will postpone this event.

Bring your best ideas, and together we'll put immense pressure on the Government to stop locking up our kids.

Please ensure you bring anything that you may require, such as water, sun-screen, an umbrella / rain coat.

If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to contact the event organiser directly to let them know there will be someone under 18 attending.
