The extraordinary environmentalist Bob Brown is coming to Murwillumbah to support Mandy Nolan, the Green's candidate for Richmond, for an important event to discuss protecting our natural habitat. Bob and Mandy will be joined by journalist Mick O’Regan and Tamara Smith MP, Member for Ballina.
Our region is home to some of the world's most beautiful and ancient forests. But, right now, we're losing alarming amounts of native forest, and wildlife including our beloved koalas face extinction.
Bob Brown, who has led Australia's most successful campaigns to protect our natural environment, is coming to Richmond because he knows how crucial this election is, what it takes to win - and he's here to endorse and back our Mandy Nolan.
"Mandy would make a magnificent representative for Richmond," says Bob Brown. "This region has some of the world's most precious forests and most resilient communities. We need her voice in parliament."
Right now, our environmental laws are failing us. Labor has had the power to change them and they backed down. Once again refusing to end native forest logging, even though 72% of Richmond voters want to protect our forests. Instead, they're weakening environmental protections and giving in to logging interests.
Join Bob Brown, Mandy Nolan, Journalist Mick O’Regan and special guest Tamara Smith MP for a powerful keynote from Bob Brown and panel conversation about:
- Protecting our ancient forests and wildlife
- Creating the Great Koala National Park
- Strengthening our environmental laws
- Making corporations accountable for environmental damage
- Why Richmond could lead Australia's environmental protection
If just 1.8% of voters change their vote, we can elect Mandy Nolan and push Labor to act. The Nationals cannot win here - this is a contest between Labor and the Greens.
We can't keep voting for the same two parties and expecting a different result. If you want real environmental protection, you have to vote for it.
