Can you believe it - it’s been ten years since the Bentley Blockade! The Greens are hosting a ten-year commemorative screening of The Bentley Effect at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre on Sunday the 19th of May, at 2pm.

Ten years ago, our community came together to see off a predatory gas company’s attempts to bring fossil fuels into the Northern Rivers. Since then, anti-CSG activism has spurred the election of Greens MPs to all four Northern Rivers Councils and to the state parliament.
To reflect on the last ten years of Green politics in the region, we’re inviting you to an exclusive screening of The Bentley Effect. There’ll also be delicious vegan food sold at the venue by the incredible team from Yulli’s Byron Bay.

The Bentley Effect tells the story of how our community came together to confront the National Party and their backers in the coal and gas industry.
It all led up to the Bentley Blockade, where protestors were set to show down with riot police. But in one of the most stunning victories the environmental movement has ever seen, the state government revoked the license for CSG at Bentley on the 18th of May, 2014.
The Bentley Effect tells that story, with amazing behind-the-scenes footage and cameos from hundreds of community members. You can click here to watch the trailer.

This event is fully wheelchair accessible. Single storey venue with ground floor access from carpark to building. Accessible bathrooms. Designated drop off areas at the main and side entrance with ramps and automatic accessible doorways. Emergency warning system and accessible exit points to the outside of the building.
